Description

The Bottomland Blend native seed mix is designed for river floodplains, riparian buffers, and low-lying areas with mesic to wet soils. Tolerant of periodic flooding, it establishes quickly to provide nectar, seeds, and cover for pollinators, songbirds, and small mammals while improving soil stability and water infiltration.

This mix combines tall grasses like Big Bluestem and Indiangrass with colorful moisture-loving forbs such as Swamp Milkweed, Blue Vervain, and New England Aster. Perfect for restoration projects, stormwater retention, and moist landscapes, it balances ecological function with lasting beauty.

For wetter zones, try the Emergent Wetland Mix and for slightly drier sites, see the Sedge Meadow Blend.

PLS stands for Pure Live Seed — an industry standard measure of seed quality. It reflects the percentage of seed in a batch that are capable of germinating.

We want you to get exactly what you pay for. Many companies sell bulk seed that includes non-viable seeds and filler. By pricing based on PLS, we ensure you’re getting the highest quality native seed with predictable results and successful germination.

Check out our comprehensive article on what PLS is and why it’s important here!
