Contract Growing FAQs
How Much Lead Time Do We Need To Give To Order From Your Nursery?
For the best results, send us your plant lists at least 6 months in advance. We’ll need at least an 8 weeks notice during the growing season.
Since contract grows take 6-8 weeks to grow, be sure to schedule ahead of time. Last minute grows are possible, but why risk it?
Like we mentioned above, we have stock available year-round. If you’re making an order last minute, please fill out the contact form above (or call us) to determine plant availability.
Do You Only Offer Contract Growing To Contractors? Can I Order Native Plants From Your Nursery As A Home Gardener?
Yes, home gardeners can also order native plants from us! Though our main clientele are landscaping contractors and designers, we also grow native plants for personal use.
For the best results and prices, request your plants a few months ahead of time so we can grow them, but anyone one in St. Louis — business or not — is welcome to order from our native plant nursery!
Last minute grows are possible though. Fill out the contact form or call us to double check our stock.
How Do You Grow Quarts & Gallons So Quickly?
We always keep a robust inventory of plugs on hand to grow out into quarts or gallons.
Seeds => Plugs => Quarts => Gallons
It takes 16-20 weeks for plants to go from seed to plug size (not including stratification time — add an additional 4-13 weeks if stratification is necessary).
It then takes plugs 6-8 weeks to root out into a quart or a gallon size.
Do You Offer Plant Delivery?
At this time, we only offer pickup from our location in St. Louis, MO (4630 W Florissant Ave, St. Louis, MO 63115). Ensure a hassle-free encounter by planning ahead for picking your plants up on time.
Do You Provide Ecological Consulting For Projects?
Pure Air Natives takes great pride in our customer service and deeply values our partnerships with St. Louis metro area contractors. The more we know about your project, the more we’ll be able to help.
From curating your plant list to suggesting other substitutes, our ecological experts have your back. You’ll be able to bounce ideas off of us, get a second opinion about landscaping projects with more complex variables (such as erosion control), and we’ll be more likely to be able to accommodate specific requests too.
Where Do You Grow Your Native Plants In Missouri?
We have greenhouses in Wentzville, MO where our seed and native plants are grown. The PLS testing (ensures seed is viable for germination) is certified by a third-party lab.
