Big Bluestem ‘rountree’ prairie grass will grow up to 8 feet tall and has a deep green color with a dark blue-green tint to the culm (stem) nodes during the summer months of growth. This variety is native to the central and eastern continental United States. Although it can tolerate poor soil, Big Bluestem does best when given adequate fertility and regular water. It is adapted to hardiness zones 4-9.
