“SEEDSAVER”

Pale purple coneflower (Echinacea pallida), named for the delicate pink and distinctive shape of its blossoms, was previously valued for its medicinal properties but is now often recommended in flower gardens and native meadows. With stout stalks and bold flower-heads, this perennial attracts bees, butterflies, and birds which feed on its nectar and wildflower seeds.

Pale purple coneflower grows 2 to 4 feet tall and is an “early bloomer” with a blooming period of late spring to midsummer (May-July).  Resistant to deer due its shape and aroma, it has beautified the American landscape for years. Pale purple coneflower is native to the Midwest of the United States and thrives in full sun, preferring soils that are dry, although it will also grow in medium-dry soil and partial sun conditions.
