Lanceleaf Coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata) is a self-sowing perennial wildflower that forms clumps of bright yellow flowers in wide-reaching colonies. In fact, it is so prolific that in some places it is considered a weed. The most common member of the coreopsis family, the Lanceleaf is popular with both pollinators and those who receive its golden blossoms in floral arrangements.
Lanceleaf Coreopsis grows about 2 feet tall and blooms from mid to late spring (April-June), although deadheading can prolong bloom time into the summer. It is located mainly in the central and eastern United States but also flourishes on the West Coast. Wildflowers need full to partial sun conditions and dry soil is best.
