Bottle Gentian (Gentiana andrewsii) is named for its tight clusters of two-foot-tall, tubular (bottle-shaped) flowers which remain closed.

• This plant mainly attracts bumblebees, which are one of the only pollinators strong enough to push aside flower petals to access the hidden nectar.
• It is most often found in moist areas near bodies of water.
• A late bloomer, its flowers add a splash of deep-blue color to the autumn landscape.
• It is an animal-resistant perennial wildflower that will keep coming back for years to come.

Bottle Gentian blooms from late summer to mid autumn (August-October) and can be found throughout the Midwest and Northeast of the United States. It prefers full to partial sun conditions and medium-wet to medium soil. It is adapted to hardiness zones 3-6.
